The current Formula Student team (Mobil 1 Sussex Racing) is made up mainly of 3rd and 4th year engineers at Sussex who are tasked with designing and building a racing car for the annual competition at Silverstone in July. The project forms the basis for their Masters group project dissertation and will be the culmination of a years’ worth of hard work and late nights.
But as well as building racing cars, the team is raising money for charity; you may have seen them raising money at the Amex Community Stadium beside the Sussex campus and the also the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In addition this year they are competing in the Haywards Heath triathlon on the 10th of April, raising more money for the team’s chosen charity – Help For Heroes.
They are complete triathlon novices so look out for them in their arm-bands and stabilisers! Training has been tough but fun and they have been taking full advantage of the fantastic ActiveUs £1 swimming offer and scenic seafront cycle paths in and around Brighton. So far this year the team have raised around £500 for charity and they are hoping to massively increase this for such a worthy cause as Help For Heroes. Any donation would be really appreciated no matter how small/large, and to support their triathlon attempt and donate click here, if you would like to find out more about the team click here.
We will keep you updated on the team’s progress – including the result of their first triathlon!
