Last Wednesday’s Careers Fair at the Amex Stadium saw a record turn-out, with over 3,100 students and graduates from University of Sussex, Brighton and other Universities attending to speak to the 115 recruiting organisations.
Exhibitors covered a wide range of sectors and offered all types of opportunity: graduate roles, summer internships, placements, work experience and volunteering. Feedback from employers was really positive, many commenting on the high standards of the students they spoke to and also the event in general: “it was our first time attending – it was by far the best organized careers fair I have attended and the enthusiasm from the students was outstanding”; “it was a fantastic experience – I got to speak to so many different students”
The Careers Fair included many employers who were recruiting into Engineering and IT roles such as BMW (UK), ideal networks, JCB, Semcom, L’Oreal, Scientifica, Toyota, William Reed Business Media and Wired Sussex. There was something for everyone – 77% of the employers attending are looking for students from any degree discipline.
Students also flocked to the workshops which took place during the event, including: Presenting yourself Professionally and Effective Job Search. Full details of the Fair and who was there is available at www.sussex.ac.uk/careersfair.
