Social gaming firm Zynga, recently announced the purchase of UK game maker, NaturalMotion for £320m which will give the company a valuable and lucrative entry into the mobile gaming market.
The Oxford based NaturalMotion was co-founded by Torsten Reil, who graduated from Sussex in 1999, with the seeds of the company being sown within the research Reil undertook on his EASy (Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems) MSc. Reil will stay on after the sale and continue to work under the NaturalMotion brand, reporting straight to Zynga chief executive Don Mattrick.
The purchase of NaturalMotion, whose games include CSR Racing and Clumsy Ninja put Zynga in a very strong position and adds to their game portfolio which also includes Farmville, Casino and Words with friends. It will also give Zynga access to the extensive research and development that NaturalMotion have put into their Euphoria technology, which helps create realistic character motion in games and movies.
We look forward to seeing how NaturalMotion will develop with Zynga…
